Just Say “Yes!”

I recently read Shonda Rhimes book A Year of Yes.  The idea of simply saying "Yes!" really resonated with me.  Since taking my love of photography from a hobby to a business I am shocked at how frequently my instinct is more along the lines of "Hmmm.  I am not sure if I can do that." or the more common "Sure I could do it, but someone else would probably be much better at it than I could ever be."  

So when I got a request to photograph some oil paintings that little voice in my head was a bit hesitant. "Hmmmmm."  Thank goodness I don't always listen.  A little research and a little practice later and I was ready to go.  

The gift of saying yes to unexpected challenges is the experience.  I got meet a fellow creative and chat in her beautiful home.  Her studio is now on my wish list with the huge windows and bright space.  We got to talk about creative living and running a business.  Best of all I got to view her beautiful oil paintings.  I am not sure exactly how to describe them except to say that I  simply wanted to crawl into many of the paintings.  

Here is to saying yes and to living a creative life in whatever that means to you.
