We have finite time, energy, and resources. I love when clients have a grand vision of where they are heading and to help guide their choices, but you can only focus on one thing at a time. Why? You don’t just get to stop your life to fully pursue your goals and visions. If you have that luxury then go crazy. You still have to do your job, your kids, and your life. You really aren’t just doing one thing at all. You are doing hundreds every single day. The meals alone. Why is everyone always eating and hungry? Didn’t I already feed you people today? Wait, have I eaten today? Oh wait. Back on track here.

Now if you are a woman you are going to entirely ignore me and still pick two or just a few more. Seriously, STOP IT! What is the one thing you would like to focus on? If you feel successful then you feel good and want to do more of it. If you make a ridiculously impossible list you feel like shit and create a beautiful shame cycle. Which of the two sounds more enjoyable?

What would you like to focus on? Is it your movement, nourishment, joy, your finances, or your sex life? What is the one thing that jumps out at you first?

This is the one thing you are going to focus on. Get honest about where you are starting from. Where you would like to go. Then what is the first step that needs to happen? The first step is almost so small it seems ridiculous. If your goal is to move more than the first step might be to dig out your exercise clothes, make sure they fit and you feel good in them, and then just set them on your chair. If you want to eat better than it might just be to eat one carrot with every meal.

This time I am encouraging you to think small. What is the smallest, simplest, most enjoyable one minute version that you need to take? Then do it now! You don’t need to plan anymore or think about it. Take action. I am sure there is some brilliant inspirational quote out there about this, but we you don’t need more time thinking about it. Seriously stop reading and GO!
