Enjoy every? moment
I would love to know who said this because I find it to be a load of crap. Plus it is just plain ridiculous. Nope I don’t enjoy cleaning up the same mess 5x a day just for the house to look like a disaster at the end of the night. I don’t love checking in on distance learning to get crabbed at and yelled at regardless of how many parenting tips and tricks I try. This is on top of trying to do my job. You can only rearrange faux school spaces so many times.
I am with my 3 kids endlessly. My partner doesn’t work from home so 7:30 am to 6 pm it is all me. We get childcare figured out and then it goes away for 2 weeks or just indefinitely. I was trying to have an attitude adjustment one day when I could feel the walls closing in. What if instead I just tried to enjoy A moment. I have 3 kids, so what if I tried to enjoy one minute with each of them in a day. That seems so much more possible.
The funny thing is that when we shoot for something so small that it almost seems ridiculous we also have the chance to feel successful. If we feel successful we are more likely to do it again and again. So just try to find A moment to be present in. Find a little joy. Find laughter. Be fully present in a moment with someone you love.
This was mine one day. A big brother snuggled up to his baby sister doing virtual music class. So simple and sweet. They dance and laughed. It may not have lasted forever, but it helped me reach for the next one. So instead of trying to enjoy every moment just enjoy A moment.
